My husband and I are on a mission to tour all the light houses in Florida. Today we took the time to drive down and visit the Hillsboro lighthouse (which is only open once a month) and we did not enjoy our experience.
We went for the 2:00 tour and expected a tour. It started raining a little (lasted maybe 15 minutes) and instead of getting 2 hours off exploring we were told only 15 minutes. It was a little rain not a downpour.
Then when we were there the volunteer staff was not friendly. All they were interested in was rushing us out, putting their tents down in, and putting the merchandise away. My husband tried to ask questions, and they ignored him. It says there is a museum but no one informed us or guided us. It’s like they were all trying to just get home or watch football. It’s not worth 35.00 a person. If they knew that they were going to only give us 15 minutes they could have told us that when we purchased the tickets and we could have decided if we wanted to come by another time we can make that decision.
Overall very disappointing. Don’t waste your money.
It was amazing to take the walk to this light house. It was 2 hours each way. But we made it and we love it. This lighthouse was truly amazing. Best way to start 2024. With an amazing walk, with amazing views and lovely sounds.
The Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, lighthouses, or simply stunning views. The lighthouse was built in 1874 and is the tallest lighthouse in Florida. It stands 175 feet tall and projects a beam that can be seen for 28 nautical miles. It offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Hillsboro Inlet, and the surrounding area. It
The lighthouse is open to the public for tours and offers a variety of educational exhibits. Visitors can learn about the history of the lighthouse, the role it played in navigation, and the marine life that can be found in the area. There is also a small museum on-site that houses artifacts related to the lighthouse and its history.
In addition to the lighthouse itself, the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse Park is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. The park has a beach, a playground, and a picnic area. There are also hiking trails that lead to the lighthouse and the surrounding area.
Here are some of the things that make the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse a 5-star attraction:
The stunning views from the top of the lighthouse
The educational exhibits on the history of the lighthouse and marine life in the area
The beautiful park setting
The friendly and knowledgeable staff
I highly recommend visiting the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse. It is a truly unique and special place that offers something for everyone
We had a great time visiting the lighthouse this week. Make sure to arrive to the dock BEFORE your departure time. They leave on time and not a minute late. Captain was friendly and the volunteers on the islands were friendly and knowledgeable as well!
Pretty cool it's in a private club but I walked to it down the beach from the resort I was staying at I got pictures and found some shells no one gave me any problem even when I walked through the private club past the gate house to to road and got picked up but I from outta town and didn't know any better lol
My husband and I wanted to tour the lighthouse on our wedding anniversary weekend, and I called earlier this week to find out more information and never received a return call.
We, instead, headed over to the HLPS museum and had a wonderful time with your representative, Marijo. She was a wealth of information and was such a delight to talk to. The museum was small but full of a LOT of information and history! So many things to see and read through! And we even purchased three things before we left.
I'm so glad they had Marijo on their staff and my husband and I look forward to coming back to the museum in the future!
It was a nice view from afar but you can't get in to go inside unless you're a resident.
Really cool park in the inlet to watch the boats go by. Recommend going at sunrise or sunset.
